As i've aged, alcohol hangovers are increasingly debilitating. While I still enjoy alcohol (especially ), and it mitigates my natural introversion and social anxiety, the physical price I pay can often last multiple days. i've tried all the basics - tumeric, milk thistle, reishi mushroom powder, lots of water alongside, etc - it doesn't make much of a difference, it's like holding up an umbrella in the face of a tsunami.
Recently i learned about zBiotics, a genetically engineered probiotic drink that breaks down the byproduct of alcohol (acetaldehyde) that builds up in your responsible for hangovers after drinking. Unfortunately, your body isn’t naturally good at breaking down acetaldehyde in your gut. And hydration doesn’t help either. Our bodies just didn’t evolve to handle lots of acetaldehyde. ZBiotics supposedly helps your body catch up, by temporarily adding good bacteria to your gut that can break down acetaldehyde. These bacteria have been engineered to produce the same type of enzyme found in your liver – replicating its key function where it matters: your gut. Has anyone tried this? I just bought my first boxes. 🤞
