Exceptionally good writeup on LDL. TL;DR: • Lowering LDL is not a panacea, esp with statins. PCSK9 etc is prob better. • The root of all evil is sugar & simple carbs. (surprise!) If you just do one dietary change to help your health, get out of the habit of eating simple carbs regularly. (My guess is that most of you are actually still kinda terrible at this) • Nattokinase is probably a powerful supplement to prevent blood clots. #Healthspan Advocates https://open.substack.com..

This has been really helpful. Thanks for sharing.Looking for thoughts from people who’ve researched this. • I have a CAC score of 21 despite consistently good cholesterol and metabolic markers. • My doctors recommend a statin, but I’m not convinced my numbers suggest an ongoing cholesterol problem. • Could this represent an older plaque event rather than current metabolic dysfunction? • These labs are representative of my results over the years: Total Chol. 151 <200 ApoB 71 <70–80 LDL-C 89 <70 Lp(a) 14 <30 TG 59 <100 HDL 48 >50 Insulin 6.4 <8 HOMA-IR 1.6 <2.0 hs-CRP 0.63 <1.0 CAC 21 0 I’ll def look into the peptides and supplements mentioned. That seems like a lower overall impact place to start. I’m also looking at doing cleerly to see if there is a bunch of soft plaque?
