An infrared OVEN. It's actually a mini infrared sauna for food! haha

Actually, it depends on the infrared sauna you are talking about. A microwave will bring water molecules to a boil. Therefore there is (*in most cases) a limit of temperature reached of water boiling point, which is 100°C. An oven on the other hand will reach temperatures of up to 250°C. That's why you get crispy dishes in the latter and not the former (*again, in most cases. I'll get to that later).
Traditional sauna, either dry or steam, is about exposing the body to high temperature, of up to 80°C (Finish saunas for instance), but usually MUCH lower for non habitués.
Infrared waves, which bypass the skin barrier, bring INFRARED BENEFITS (reducing inflammation for instance; anti aging at cellular level, etc.) already at much lower temperatures, such as around 40°C, already.

But that doesn't mean infrared cannot be used as a heating agent – just like heated stones or steam in traditional saunas – to get the temperature in the sauna to go up much above that.

Look up infrared food FRYERS (!) at Amazon, for instance. You can make french fries or chicken using infrared! 😱

So, of course, an infrared sauna COULD reach the temperatures of a traditional sauna, combinating the benefits of both infrared and high temperature. It all depends on the infrared sauna model specs.
The one I purchased can actually go up to close to 80°C, which is the traditional sauna limit.
So, if I wanted, I could combine infrared AND "traditional" sauna benefits in one same session.

(*) there are special microwave crisper pans that allow you to "hack" a microwave and go above the 100°C usual temperature limit, of boiling water. The way a microwave was designed to work is by making water molecules react to electromagnetic waves and, with that, heat up the food (which contains water).
But there are other materials that can react to the same waves and heat up, getting to higher temperatures. This way, you can actually make crispy bacon in a microwave, for instance. And fry stuff.

i'm being told that its like comparing a gas stove and a microwave.  infrared is a hotbox using radiant heat (like a toaster), not a sauna.  "Infrared Cabin / Booth – This is not sauna despite the misappropriation of the name in the U.S. and is a very different experience than sauna despite what marketing people say. Most people who have experienced both usually have a preference, often strong, for sauna. There are two flavors of IR; Far Infrared or FIR and Near Infrared or NIR. Each is a bit different from a comfort/enjoyment standpoint.

Both FIR and NIR include potential health benefits though the lists of benefits differ for NIR, FIR and Sauna. One studied benefit is using FIR for Waon Therapy to improve respiratory function for people with COPD. Other health benefits are being studied so as time goes on we’ll know more. It seems to me @Bobby might be confusing red light therapy with infrared. Infrared saunas are, indeed, saunas. Some of them go as high as 77°C. But it doesn't even need to get to such a high temperature to have the same body heating effect, as the infrared waves "jump" the skin barrier, heating up deeper layers of tissue and making the individual inside sweat more, even at a lower external temperature than a traditional heat sauna. On top of the benefits of heat, infrared also has well studied anti inflammatory properties.
You can couple all that with red light therapy. The one I purchased has that option too. It is an additional accessory you can purchase to upgrade the sauna.
